Batting Facility Feature: East Coast Baseball Academy, South Carolina

If you are in the South Carolina area and in the search for a one of a kind baseball/softball facility – East Coast Baseball Academy is Charleston’s premier location for baseball and softball training.

In Charleston, On Deck Sports worked with owner Randy Carlson to produce a training facility that was able to incorporate every need that baseball and softball players may require, including private one-on-one training. By working with Mike Kalell at On Deck Sports, the 4,200+ sq. ft facility featured four batting cages and our go-to indoor GT34 padded artificial turf. While refreshing this facility, East Coast Baseball Academy used our custom shell net batting cage design and custom windscreen barriers which allowed this facility to become a true definition of multi-use. This design allowed for the highest level of versatility and safety, as well as space for a variety of activities from baseball and softball training, to birthday parties, team parties and custom 1 on 1 private training.

Now, most projects might have their own set of challenges, and this facility was no different. The timeline was a very small window and the layout had to be completely revamped. When it comes to the timing, this renovation needed to be completed between their camp seasons, shutting down for the least amount of time as possible. Working with our On Deck Sports Facility expert Mike Kalell, the installers and owner Randy, the timeline was coordinated and accomplished successfully. It took approximately 1 week to remove the existing baseball netting set up and approximately 2 more weeks to complete the installations.

Custom Batting Cage Dropping From Ceiling

While the timeline was one challenge, the other challenge for this job was making sure the space was utilized to its maximum potential. The design that was originally in place had to change. This meant that in order to really maximize the square footage, the batting cages were flipped. This enabled teams to have the most diverse training sessions possible, by allowing for both hitting and pitching practice. With this combination of time, efficiency and quality, this East Coast Baseball Academy knew choosing On Deck Sports was the best choice for exceeding the facility’s needs.
