Facility Feature: Eastpoint Christian Church, Maine

PAST CUSTOMER

In 2017, Eastpoint Christian Church in Portland, ME partnered with On Deck Sports to build out their new indoor sports facility with Elite turf and 36- gauge netting.  They chose Elite turf for its durability and incredible grass-like feel and 36-gauge netting for its flexibility in accommodating multiple activities.  

Since its opening, the facility has been a huge success and a very popular location for residents in the area. “It’s definitely successful in bringing the community together to meet, hang out, and have fun; it’s also great for soccer team practices and adult recreational leagues,” says Jeff Bland, Executive Pastor.

RETURNING CUSTOMER

Thrilled with the first build-out and the professionalism of the On Deck Sports team, Bland came back to On Deck Sports in 2019 with a need for retractable divider curtains.  “Safety is our main concern and, as a space open to the public, we had many situations where adults and children played on the turf at the same time. We wanted a divider curtain to provide a safety barrier between the different age groups.”

After speaking with Bland, facility expert Mike Kalell recommended one of On Deck Sports’ custom motorized, divider curtains. With a motor speed that results in lift of 30 feet per minutes, this divider curtain easily and quickly retracts with the turn of a key.

Bland appreciated Kalell’s responsiveness and the installation team’s ability and willingness to make some location adjustments on the fly.

The feedback from the community has been great as the facility continues to grow in popularity. “There are other sports complexes around the area but many people compliment this one for the nice condition it is in.”

Bland also put a divider curtain from On Deck Sports on a basketball court in the facility and is satisfied with both.
